SUBJECT: Travel Request for CypherCon 5.0
Purpose/Justification of Travel:
The topics of CypherCon include hacking information security,
cryptography, and other security-oriented topics that I feel would be
extremely beneficial for me to learn and apply in my current work
environment. Since I have recently transitioned to a new contract that
focuses on translating technical procedures and verbiage into policies, I
believe that this would be a great chance for me to experience the
technical side of cybersecurity and be hands-on. By understanding how
offensive cybersecurity works, I can understand how security
vulnerabilities are exploited and what exactly is necessary to prevent
attacks from affecting information systems and their components. There
are several villages that offer different technical projects,
challenges, and competitions that attendees can participate in. Since I
am a hands-on learner, I would highly appreciate the opportunity to
attend the CypherCon 5.0 in Wisconsin on May 2nd and May 3rd. Below is the link for the upcoming conference.
Dates of Travel: May 2nd and 3rd, 2020
Airfare: I will be flying out of BWI on May 1st and landing in Milwaukee the same day. As for departure, I will be leaving Milwaukee on May 4th. The cost for a roundtrip flight is $183.39.
will be staying at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center located at 509 W.
Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53203, USA for three nights. The
cost for a three-night stay would be $445.05.
Ground Transportation: The
only transportation that I will require will be a taxi to and from the
airport. It is a 15-minute drive from the airport to the Hilton
Milwaukee City Center which would cost approximately $20 there and back.
Mileage: It is 9.9 miles from the airport to the Hilton Milwaukee City Center.
Meals: Meals are not included in the conference fee. The full daily amount for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and incidentals would cost approximately $66.
Conference Registration/Materials Other Expenses: Registration to attend is $150.
Conference Presentations: Corporate
and network security, privacy, personal rights and freedoms, new
technologies, modern exploit techniques, security philosophy, hardware
hacking, forensics, reverse engineering, protocol analysis,
cryptographic algorithms, and mushroom hacking.
Supervisor/Department Approval: TBD
